मैं भी हूँ अजब एक दीवाना, मरता हूँ ना आहें भरता हूँ……..

Dilip Kumar and Vyjayanthimala, one of the most beautiful pairs to appear on the silver screen. The charm, the energy, the innocence that transcended when they came together on screen still remains unmatched. The duo has worked in 7 movies together, each one of them a classic.

Devdas – 1955
Naya Daur – 1957

Dilip Kumar was romantically linked to Vyjayanthimala after his break up with Madhubala. However, both the actors never acknowledged it. According to film historians Bunny Reuben and Sanjit Narwekar the duo was romantically involved but their relationship got hit when Vyjayanthimala signed Raj Kapoor’s Sangam. Dilip Kumar later married actress Saira Banu who was 22 years younger than him, in 1966. Vyjayanthimala too got married to Chamanlal Bali in 1968 and bid adieu to films.

The cine-couple has given us some of the best romantic songs that we have grown hearing.

One of the iconic scenes where one can see their chemistry is in the song “Nain lad jaihe to”.

If you look at the clip between 4.08s- 4:37s, then it is hard to find words to describe the expressions of both the actors.

………“Ek ajeeb si Sharm, Haya, Nazakat dikhti hai Vyjayanthimala ke chehre par and Dilip Kumar is like….He is in his own world..Alhar and Desi.”

The quintessential charm still rules the hearts of cine lovers.
